INTRODUCTION

The Government of India initiated a scheme to change the education ecosystem and create a generation of empowered human resources. The Government of India has introduced a far-sighted initiative known as PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI). PM SHRI aims to revive the schooling system in India and thereby provides better education and overall development to students . The PM SHRI stands as a beacon of hope, lighting the way toward a brighter future for the youth.PM SHRI is an ambitious project, through which consequently children will be empowered to become responsible and skillful citizens. The fundamental of PM SHRI is that education right of every child in India. The cabinet approved the PM SHRI which was sponsored by the central Government on 7th September 2022. These PM SHRI Schools will showcase the implementation of the National Education policy 2020. These schools offer leadership to other schools also.

The existing schools are the schools managed by the Central government/state/UT Government/local bodies. The Ministry has proposed the duration of the scheme from 2022-23 to 2026-27. More than 20 lakh students are likely to benefit from this scheme. The total expense of the project as a whole will be 27360 crores distributed over 5 years which includes a central share of 18128 crores.

4.Teachers empowerment: PM SHRI aims to empower teachers by equipping them with trainings, resources and good salaries. PM SHRI thereby improve their skills and motivate them.

5.Continous upgradation: Through monitoring, evaluation, and feedback mechanism, PM Schools for Rising India encourages upgradation and thereby improve the education quality.

2.Teacher training: Continuing ongoing training for existing teachers to adapt to new teaching methods and combine skill development into the syllabus is resource intensive.

3.Sustainability and scalability: PM SHRI altogether requires long term fund support after initial Government initiatives for sustainability and scalability of PM Schools for Rising India schools.

4.Quality assurance: Continuing consistent educational standards across all PM SHRI schools needs monitoring as well as evaluation system, which is finally a challenging task.

5.Inclusion and equity: Fulfilling the needs of students from different backgrounds and marginalized communities requires targeted interventions to ensure equal access and opportunities.

WAY FORWARD:

  1. Investment in Infrastructure: Funding for infrastructure development is of high importance, especially in underserved and rural areas. It will ultimately increase the access to quality education.
  2. Teachers’ skill development: The government should continue the professional training program to upgrade teachers’ skills and adaptability to evolving educational needs.
